The following majors are available:
- Single major consists of
an approved sequence of 27 units (nine subjects) in a discipline
or cognate discipline, which must include 12 units from Table Vc
(level 3 subjects), with all subjects being passed at a grade of
Pass or higher.
- Double major consists of two sequences of
units from two different disciplines following the requirements
for a single major.
- Interdisciplinary major consists of an approved
sequence of at least 42 units (14 subjects) and including a total
of 18 units (six subjects) of level 3 subjects from at least two
different disciplines, with all subjects being passed at a grade
of Pass or higher.

below. For additional information about each major and the recommended
electives to be studied as part of the degree, please consult the
facultys Subject Information Booklet which is provided
to all students at the time of enrolment or re-enrolment. Copies
may also be obtained from the Faculty of Science and Engineering
office.
Note: Substitution of subjects for
core subjects to allow students to graduate with an approved major
will be considered by the Executive Dean on a case by case

Townsville
This is a new interdisciplinary major in Marine Science in
conjunction with the University of Sydney and the University of
Queensland. Students who wish to enrol in this program should have
an OP 10 (or equivalent).
The major comprises an approved sequence of at least 42 units including
a total of 18 units of level 3 subjects from at least two different
disciplines.
Students currently enrolled at JCU who wish to join this program
and have the necessary prerequisites can apply to do so, however
a quota will apply.
