Available to graduates who have reached a satisfactory standing in mathematics or statistics at this university. Graduates from other universities with equivalent qualifications will be considered for acceptance.

Areas of research emphasis are statistics and intelligent data analysis. The honours year is primarily a preparation for students wishing to undertake a research higher degree.
Learning Objectives:
- to understand theoretical concepts in a broad range of topics which give background to the research project;
- ability to formulate and solve research problems;
- ability to carry out a substantial piece of research and write a dissertation.
Assessment by periodic informal examinations, seminar and research thesis.
