Honours in Human Geography provides opportunities for further studies, and for research into a topic that interests the student. The work is a combination of coursework, a seminar presentation, research proposal, literature review and a 15,000 word thesis.
Learning Objectives:
- the aim of an honours is to develop and assess the ability of a student to undertake independent research;
- the honours degree provides training in research skills, coursework relevant to disciplinary goals and the support and advice of academic and administrative staff;
- the School of Tropical Environment Studies and Geography has a broad academic base and provides four honours streams – Spatial Analysis, Physical Geography, Environmental Studies and Human Geography. These are not mutually exclusive, as interdisciplinary studies are encouraged both within TESAG and with other schools in the university.
Assessment by thesis (70%); on-course assessment, literature review and written proposal (30%).
