Physics Honours

Available to graduates who have reached a satisfactory standing in physics and mathematics at this University. Graduates from other universities with equivalent qualifications will be considered for acceptance.

Areas of research emphasis in physics are atomic and molecular physics; biomechanics; physical oceanography and meteorology. The honours year is primarily a preparation for students wishing to undertake a research higher degree.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to understand theoretical concepts in a broad range of topics which give background to the research project;
  2. ability to formulate and solve research problems;
  3. ability to carry out a substantial piece of research and write a dissertation.

Assessment will be predominantly by research.
