Environmental and Regional Planning

This subject focuses on the concepts and processes of environmental and regional planning and design. Human perceptions of environments, community participation and the process of designing/ planning for an acceptable balance between human use and the physical environment are part of this focus.
Learning Objectives:
- have a more developed understanding of how people relate to environments in which they function;
- have a working knowledge of environmental, regional and resource planning processes;
- ability to undertake and complete various components of the planning process (eg planning objectives, environmental assessments, community involvement);
- ability to critically review planning documents (eg site plans, management plans).
Assessment by on-course assignments, tutorial presentation (20%); planning research project (20%); development project (20%); examination (40%).
