Bachelor of Indigenous Studies

The Bachelor of Indigenous Studies is designed to ensure that:
- there is a greater awareness and deeper understanding of Indigenous Australian peoples, their environment, history, culture, languages, politics, economy and issues;
- there is a recognition of the significance of Indigenous Australian languages and cultural heritage as an important part of the heritage of all Australians;
- there is an acceptance of the rights of people to hold different values, attitudes and beliefs;
- cross-cultural awareness, understanding and communication is developed;
- students can demonstrate an awareness of, and an ability to respond positively and sensitively to a lifestyle different from ones own;
- a strong sense of personal identity in the contemporary Australian society is developed; and
- students can demonstrate an ability to apply analysis techniques, conceptual approaches and methodologies for research.
All subjects are offered at the Townsville campus unless otherwise indicated.

24 units in level 1 which include three core subjects and five elective subjects.
