Diploma of Indigenous Studies – Communications

The focus of the Diploma of Indigenous Studies – Communications is to provide students with opportunities to gain the knowledge and skills needed to work in the media industry. Participation will enable students to develop competency in operating the range of technological equipment associated with radio broadcasting, television production and print journalism; gain an overall understanding of the media industry and how it operates in Australia; develop deeper insights into the role of Indigenous media in relation to the Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations of Australia and develop sound skills in academic writing, especially in terms of enquiry skills, critical text analysis and the preparation of written and oral argument.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 24 units in each of Levels 1 and 2.
