Townsville
Occupational therapists are health professionals who assist
people to overcome limitations caused by injury or illness, psychological
or emotional difficulties, developmental delay or the effects of
ageing. The occupational therapist is trained to assess each individuals
skills and abilities, and then to enable the individual to move
from dependence to independence, maximising personal skills, wellbeing
and quality of life.
The program works with health services in rural and remote
areas so that students can experience occupational therapy in a
range of rural and urban settings.
JCU occupational therapy students have a range of study options including
interactive distance learning segments and summer schools. These
options allow students real flexibility in planning their study programs
and can be especially helpful for students with work and/or family
commitments.
