Multimedia Design and Production

Prerequisites: CP1010 or CP5280

26 lectures, 26 hours practicals. Second semester.

This subject focuses on students developing an understanding of the multimedia design and production process for on-line delivery. The roles and responsibilities of members of multimedia development teams will be reviewed including: multimedia digital resources design and development, software system development to support on-line delivery using contemporary development environments, multimedia interface design, multimedia, content experts, project management for multimedia, design and management tools and multimedia evaluation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand models and processes of multimedia design and production;
  2. understand and perform the roles and responsibilities of members of a multimedia development team;
  3. ability to implement a web based multimedia project, including a supporting software system.

Students should be able to demonstrate the required capabilities at a level appropriate for postgraduate studies, including analysis and design.

Assessment by on-course assessment in the form of assignments during the semester, a project during the semester and a major project at the end of the semester. Full details about the assessment will be handed out in class during the first week of the semester and posted on the Web.
