Interactive Multimedia Principles

26 lectures, 26 hours practicals. First and second semester.

Use, representation, storage and transmission of multimedia signals; audio and video concepts; data network considerations; multimedia services; authoring systems.

Learning Objectives:

  1. ability to demonstrate a degree of understanding and appropriate use of multimedia technologies for the creation, storage, transmission and use of multimedia content.

Students should be able to demonstrate the required capabilities at a level appropriate for postgraduate studies, including analysis and design.

On-course assessment in the form of assignments during the semester, a project during the semester and a major project at the end of the semester. Full details about the assessment will be handed out in class during the first week of the semester and posted on the Web.
