An advanced treatment of theory and techniques used in the study of population and community ecology. Major topics include population ecology, including demography of plant and animal populations with an emphasis on tropical organisms and population processes; community ecology including patterns and dynamics and structure and determinants of structure in communities and plant/animal interactions.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to gain an advanced understanding of the theoretical background and the practical aspects of the study of population and community ecology.

Assessment by examination (50%); on-course assessment (50%).
