This subject extends student’s knowledge of the manipulative palette of Adobe Photoshop with emphasis on the techniques commonly employed in the photographic industry. Through individual research culminating in seminar presentations, students will gain an appreciation of the many applications of digital imaging currently employed in the professional photographic marketplace.
Learning Objectives:
- further develop competency in the use of a variety of digital imaging and computer equipment;
- improve competency in the use of Adobe Photoshop with emphasis on the techniques commonly employed in the photographic industry;
- through individual research extend the level of understanding of the principles and practices of digital imaging with particular reference to its practical applications in professional photography;
- explore experimental combinations of conventional and digital technology in the quest for originality and creative excellence.
Assessment by three practical assignments (60%); folio of digital images (20%); research seminar presentation (20%). Late submission of assessment items will attract penalties unless an extension has been granted in writing by the lecturer and work submitted by students with an attendance rate of less than 80% may not be eligible for assessment without prior written approval from the lecturer.
