This subject introduces students to the operation of digital input, storage and output devices and the use of Adobe Photoshop. Students will acquire an overview of the history of digital imaging as well as current practice as applied to a variety of fields of photography.
Learning Objectives:
- develop a basic competency in the use of film and flatbed scanners;
- develop a basic competency in the use of Adobe Photoshop in manipulating and combining images;
- evolve an individual perspective on the use of digital techniques to achieve personal artistic objectives.
Assessment by three practical assignments (60%); folio of photographs (20%); research seminar presentation (20%). Late submission of assessment items will attract penalties unless an extension has been granted in writing by the lecturer and work submitted by students with an attendance rate of less than 80% may not be eligible for assessment without prior written approval from the lecturer.
