Music Technologies 2

39 hours practicals. Second semester.

The topics offered in this subject introduce students to the range of more advanced skills that music technologists need to develop. It is largely practical where as well as attending the class students will be expected to spend a small number of regular weekly hours in the main studio.

Learning Objectives:

  1. acquire knowledge of advanced techniques on a variety of music technology instruments;
  2. develop skills in performance and concert preparation utilising music technology;
  3. approach music-making with music technology in a creative way through an introduction to improvisation and composition;
  4. appreciate the range of career opportunities available to students trained in music technology;
  5. hone and advance the skills acquired in level 1 recording technology studies;
  6. acquire an in-depth grasp of the skills required of a music technologist.

Assessment by assignments (70%); presentation of work in progress (10%); subject log book (10%); attendance (5%); participation (5%).
