Cultural Heritage Studies Honours 4

Prerequisites: Bachelors degree in Arts, Soc Sc or Sc in Archaeology and/or Anthropology. 16 units of level 3 AN and/or AR subjects at Credit or higher.
Inadmissable Subject Combination: AN4001 AN4002 AR4001 AR4002 AR4003 AR4101

60 hours seminars. First and second semester.

Available to level 4 Honours students who have completed the core strand in archaeology and/or anthropology or other equivalent course of study approved by the Dean on the advice of the Head of School.

This level 4 Honours subject includes a program of seminars, specialised reading and study on research design and the principles and practice of cultural heritage, as well as attendance at seminars by persons involved in heritage. Students will undertake a project as well as supervised independent research work on an approved Cultural Heritage topic.

Learning Objectives:

  1. become conversant with advanced principles and practices of cultural heritage;
  2. design and carry out a research project in cultural heritage;
  3. complete and write-up the research project as a thesis.

Assessment by essays, practical assignments and participation (40%); thesis (60%).
