Managing Community Organisations

Prerequisites: WS2014 or permission of HoS

16 lectures, 16 hours workshops or the equivalent in mixed mode on-campus delivery. Second semester and flexible delivery. Subject commences in week 6 of the semester. Also offered at Mackay campus.

The subject will introduce students to the knowledge and skills required for managing small community organisations.

Learning Objectives:

  1. an understanding of the nature of community organisations;
  2. awareness of the responsibilities and various structures of community organisations;
  3. familiarisation with management principles, processes and issues;
  4. development of skills required to manage a community organisation;
  5. understanding relevant award structures.

Assessment by essay (50%); presentation or project work (50%).
