Managing Community Organisations

Prerequisites: WS2014 or permission of HoS
16 lectures, 16 hours workshops or the equivalent in mixed mode on-campus delivery. Second semester and flexible delivery. Subject commences in week 6 of the semester. Also offered at Mackay campus.

The subject will introduce students to the knowledge and skills required for managing small community organisations.
Learning Objectives:
- an understanding of the nature of community organisations;
- awareness of the responsibilities and various structures of community organisations;
- familiarisation with management principles, processes and issues;
- development of skills required to manage a community organisation;
- understanding relevant award structures.
Assessment by essay (50%); presentation or project work (50%).
