Advanced Counselling Psychology

39 hours workshops. Second semester intensive block mode.

Available to MPsych students or other suitably qualified persons with the permission of the course coordinator.

This subject examines a number of topic areas in counselling and looks at their diagnosis/assessment, prevention and treatment in a counselling context. Cross-cultural and developmental issues are embedded in the topics. Topics include trauma, grief, couples, anxiety, stress and adjustment.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to develop competencies in a number of counselling settings so that students can assess, prevent and treat presented problems.

Assessment by major assignment (50%); minor assignment (20%); workshop presentation (30%).
