Working With Clients

This subject explores the communication and counselling microskills necessary to work with a client. In addition, issues of client reluctance and resistance are addressed.

Learning Objectives:

  1. attain practical communication and counselling microskills;
  2. an understanding of client reluctance and resistance and professionally appropriate strategies;
  3. an awareness of the student’s own strengths and weaknesses in working with clients.

Assessment by video of microskills usage with peer as client (50%); class presentation and written paper (50%).
