Students will independently plan, design and commence research in an applied setting or clinical practice. The study should demonstrate original and critical thought and should relate to a well defined area of mental health. The research planned should have the capacity to make a significant, substantial and original contribution to knowledge.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to plan and design applied research at an advanced level and provide detailed evidence of skill in developing appropriate hypotheses and interrogating and summarising the relevant research literature.

Assessment by an oral and written report describing the student’s literature review, research design, methodology, hypotheses and any preliminary findings. Satisfactory progress at this point is a requirement for completion of this subject and for admission to PY7001.
