39 hours practicals, 26 hours workshops. Second semester.

Available to Bachelor of Photography students.

Students enrolling in this subject will gain further insight and experience in a variety of fields of professional photography. A series of guest lectures, demonstrations and participation in live work projects will enhance students’ understanding of, and ability to operate within, a professional work environment.

Learning Objectives:

  1. evaluating how best to meet a client’s needs from the supplied brief;
  2. achieving the best possible match between client’s needs and photographic product within the given parameters;
  3. asserting the student’s own philosophic and artistic values and preferences in interactions with clients;
  4. expressing the student’s own philosophic and artistic viewpoints and capabilities through their photographic work.

Assessment by folio of work produced for actual clients (40%); folio of self-commissioned work (40%); participation in workshops and practicals (20%). Late submission of assessment items will attract penalties unless an extension has been granted in writing by the lecturer and work submitted by students with an attendance rate of less than 80% may not be eligible for assessment without prior written approval from the lecturer.
