39 lectures, 13 practice classes, 45 hours practicals. Second semester, flexible delivery.

Lagrangian and hamiltonian mechanics, central forces and astronomical orbits, oscillations, non-inertial systems, fluid mechanics.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to understand the theoretical concepts covered in lectures and to solve problems related to these topics;
  2. to undertake experimental work and write laboratory reports.

Assessment by a three-hour end of semester examination; on-course tutorial assignments; practical work.
