Performing Music 3

This subject will build on the training undertaken in Performing Music 2 and develop advanced skills necessary for successful participation in a variety of performance environments. Students will improve their instrumental, compositional or vocal ability via instruction, performance and written reflection. In addition, students will undertake a module of conducting training. Students will also continue to develop advanced aural awareness skills.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop and enhance skills in composition, instrumental or vocal performance in a variety of contexts;
  2. increase knowledge of style and repertoire;
  3. improve verbal and written skills as specifically related to music;
  4. acquire a variety of conducting skills in several musical environments;
  5. further develop advanced aural skills.

Assessment by practice journal (5%); masterclass participation (10%); performance examination (15%); concert practice performances (10%); conducting module (10%); concert appreciation portfolio or approved external examination performance (10%); small group ensemble (15%); large group ensemble (10%); aural training (15%).
