Numerical solution of partial differential equations, computation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors, optimisation, discrete Fourier transforms.

Learning Objectives:

  1. an understanding of more advanced numerical techniques, with application to mathematical problems from various disciplines.

Assessment by coursework (50%); a three-hour examination (50%).
