Prerequisites: 24 units of level 3 EL subjects including EL3005 and EL3025 (Townsville); substantial achievement in 3 levels of EL subjects (Cairns)
Inadmissable Subject Combination: EL4004

Learning Objectives:

An English Honours thesis should demonstrate the following qualities:

  1. clarity of concept and originality of research project;
  2. appropriate and adequate research;
  3. monograph-style organisation, including introduction, chapter division and conclusion;
  4. clarity, subtlety and coherence of argument;
  5. evidence of understanding of and engagement with contemporary or other theoretical approaches relevant to the topic, and/or of the hermeneutic in which the argument of the thesis is conducted;
  6. technical correctness, including grammar, spelling, syntax, presentation of references and bibliographical data;
  7. a fluent and readable style and a scholarly manner and tone.

Assessment by completed thesis to be submitted by the end of September (100%).
