Aquaculture: Research Project and Thesis

Prerequisites: Satisfactory fulfilment of requirements for entry into Aquaculture Honours program
Inadmissable Subject Combination: AQ5011 AQ5012

Students will be expected to spend half of their total workload, equivalent to 24 hours per week for both semesters, on their research project and writing of thesis. Full year. AQ4022 is a required corequisite subject.

Available to level 4 Bachelor of Applied Science (Aquaculture) students who have satisfactorily fulfilled the requirements for entry into the Aquaculture Honours program.

Staff: Dr T Anderson.

Individual research projects on aquaculture-related topics with the student supervised by one or two academic staff members.

Learning Objectives:

  1. ability to plan and execute a research project;
  2. ability to present a seminar on a research project;
  3. competence in scientific writing;
  4. ability to interact effectively with a research supervisor, other researchers and technical staff.

Assessment by a thesis (80%); final seminar (10%); oral defense of thesis (10%).
