Practice for Social Justice: Skills and Ethics

26 lectures, 48 tutorials or the equivalent in mixed mode on-campus delivery. First semester and flexible delivery. Also offered at Mackay campus.

Introduction to the practice skills for working with individuals and groups. Introduction to core values and professional ethics.

Learning Objectives:

  1. a range of helping methods in the context of social welfare practice;
  2. the dynamics of interpersonal communication skills and group processes;
  3. knowledge/understanding of values, principles, standards of practice in relation to professional codes of ethics.

Assessment by values and ethics analysis (40%); video role play and written assessment (60%).
