Comprehensive review of the tropical parasitic diseases of importance in veterinary medicine. Each major group of protozoan, helminth and arthropod parasites of domestic and companion animals is examined with emphasis on their diagnosis, epidemiology, control and treatment.
Learning Objectives:
- to provide the graduate veterinary student an opportunity for in-depth study of applied aspects of tropical parasitic diseases of veterinary importance;
- appreciate the recent advances in application of modern technologies to diagnosis and treatment of these diseases;
- analyse and develop plans for the management and control of parasitic diseases using integrated approaches;
- understand current knowledge of pathogenic mechanisms of parasitic diseases;
- critically evaluate research papers and reviews on parasitological topics and present conclusions as seminars/reports.
Assessment by seminar presentations (50%); assignments (50%).
