Infectious Diseases of Livestock

Discussion groups and assignments will cover the aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and control of bacterial, viral and infectious diseases of animals. The subject will emphasise the epidemiological approach to the diagnosis and control of infectious diseases of livestock and is complementary to TV5010 and TV5040.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand the fundamental epidemiological principles which apply to the diagnosis and control of infectious diseases of livestock;
  2. describe the major bacterial, viral and mycotic diseases of livestock by organ system or by syndrome;
  3. understand the aetiology and pathogenesis of these diseases.
