120 hours seminars/practicals. Second semester.
Available to level 2 BT students only.
Students will undertake either Acting or Production modules. Studio production and performance projects are devised to facilitate individual student-focused work towards professional practice.
Acting
Students select appropriate modules from:
Vocal skills exploration of vibrations/resonance, exploration of vowels and consonants through sound and movement, text analysis, sight reading.
Movement skills physical discipline for the actor and socio-cultural patterns of behaviour across a range of periods with responsiveness to body impulses.
Production
Students develop stage management skills by: working with the director, experiencing the bump in and bump out, working with the set and lighting designer and touring productions.
Learning Objectives:
- to enable students to develop, employ and obtain mastery of core skills in the discipline.
Assessment by:
Acting
Movement: creative diary (1,500 words) (20%); performance work (30%); Voice: voice journal (5%); Shakespearean duologue (15%); thematic presentation (10%); monologue with an accent (10%); seminar (10%).
Production
Report detailing stage management duties through the production process (50%); continuous assessment of practical skills (50%).
