Sport and Exercise Nutrition

39 lectures, 13 tutorials, 15 hours practicals. Second semester.

Nutrition categories and values for food; water, food and electrolyte balance; emphasis on fluid replacement; fluid and metabolic homeostasis prior to, during and after exercise; the athletes diet optimal nutrition for exercise.
Anthropometry assessment of body composition and somatotyping.
Learning Objectives:
- to understand the effect of nutrition on athletic performance and to be able to evaluate, formulate and solve problems in this area;
- to be able to make skinfold, girth and bone diameter measurements with precision so that your technical error of measurement is less than 5% for the majority of sites.
Assessment by nutrition component (examination, assignment and practical) (70%); anthropometry component (written and practical examination) (30%).
