Students will continue their ongoing study of tonal music theory and composition techniques and will undertake an advnanced study of 20th century composition. Further studies in orchestration and arrangement are undertaken with a focus on brass and percussion instruments, along with further studies in the techniques of music anlaysis. Students will develop practical skills in music creation in a weekly workshop.

Assessment by tonal music techniques: worksheets (20%), examination (10%); orchestration worksheets (10%); composition: portfolio (30%); analysis: written analysis (20%); attendance/participation (10%).
