Japanese 3: Advanced

A wide range of authentic material is used in this subject such as Japanese TV dramas and documentaries, fictional and non-fictional prose, etc. Tasks include summarising and discussing the content of Japanese TV programs and various readings, both in speech and in writing. In these discussions and summaries increased emphasis is placed on using the appropriate register of speech. Students will be expected to be familiar with 400 of the most frequently used Kanji characters on completion of this subject. Studying for this subject combines individual study and attending practicals.

Assessment by oral/aural and written examinations: listening (25%); speaking (25%); reading (25%); writing (25%).
