The second module will look at the series of military expeditions sent from western Christendom to Syria and Palestine during the Middle Ages. The third module will consider the origins, impact and aftermath of the virulent combination of bubonic, septicaemic and pneumonic plagues that constituted the Black Death. The fourth module examines the changing concept of witchcraft and the nature of the phenomenon from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries. Students will be encouraged to utilise the internet as well as print sources.
