Indigenes, Women and Regions: Australian History 2

This subject deals with those aspects of our past which have only recently attracted the attention of Australian historians. These include Aboriginal and womens history, Australia in its international context and a brief introduction to Queenslands past.
Learning Objectives:
- to be acquainted with the relevant debates occurring within the discipline;
- to be able to evaluate these critically;
- to expand the breadth of research skills to include electronic and primary source material;
- to marshal material in a coherent and logical manner;
- to use footnotes to expand information as well as to document sources.
Assessment by essay of 2,500 words (35%); tutorial essay (1,500 words) and presentation (15%); general contribution to tutorial discussions (10%); examination based on issues raised in lecture material (40%).
