This subject studies the ways in which Australia has been shaped by its past. Topics include the place of Aborigines and women in Australian history, the changing role of Australia as an actor in the international system and attempts to manufacture a distinctive Queensland history.
Learning Objectives:
- to be acquainted with the relevant debates occurring within the discipline;
- to be able to evaluate these critically;
- to have developed research skills;
- to be able to marshall ideas in a logical and coherent manner;
- to be able to source information using appropriate methods.
Assessment by four 1,000 word module assignments (60%); two-hour examination (40%).
