Creative Writing 2

Prerequisites: Credit or better in EL1011 or EL2011

12 tutorials, 7 two-hour seminars. Second semester.

Available only to students with a Credit (or better) result in EL1011:03 or EL2011:04.

Staff: Dr G Mercer.

Students initiate and complete a major piece of creative writing. The writing is guided and monitored through regular discussion and work-in-progress presented at seminars.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to critically appraise and edit one’s own work;
  2. to research appropriate methods for creative writing;
  3. to find solutions to writer’s block.

Assessment by 1,500 word assignment (15%); class participation (25%); final portfolio (60%).
