Integrated Primary Curriculum Development and Teaching

Inadmissable Subject Combination: ED4101

20 lectures, 20 hours workshops. First semester.

This subject further develops an integrated view of classroom planning, teaching and evaluation, especially long-term planning and curriculum development. Emphasis is also placed on classroom management as a deliberate aspect of a teacher’s classroom practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand the research into and historical background and relevance of classroom planning;
  2. be capable of effective classroom planning, at both individual and collaborative levels;
  3. extend the theory of practice relating to the implementation of classroom management.

The final assessment program in this subject will be negotiated with the student cohort, but will centre on completion of the following activities: three short (400 words) reflective writing topics (20%); an integrated unit plan (40%); a final semester examination (40%).
