Third Year Professional Experience

Available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program who have successfully completed ED2499 Second Year Professional Experience, and are concurrently enrolled in either ED3490 (EC Primary) or ED3211 (Secondary).

This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for professional experience within the BEd program. In schools and centres relevant to their specialist sector (Early Childhood, Primary, or Secondary), students will complete 5 weeks throughout the year, with an option for rural sites. During this time, students will continue to develop skills and personal practical knowledge, and to work collaboratively with school-based teacher educators.
Learning Objectives:
- the ability to plan, prepare and self-evaluate teaching short sequences of learning episodes;
- a developing critical knowledge base for learning and teaching;
- effective interactive skills with all learners;
- the ability to establish and manage effective learning environments appropriate to most learners;
- the ability to work towards developing and using appropriately a variety of assessment techniques to monitor, record and provide feedback on learners progress;
- awareness of complexities and ethics of teachers roles, including importance of maintaining collaborative relations with colleagues.
School-based teacher educators will complete a written report on the students demonstrated competence in developing teaching skills.
