Processes of ore formation, including the geochemistry of ore-forming fluids, wall-rock interactions and fluid migration; the styles, attributes and geological context of mineralised rocksystems; philosophy and techniques of exploration geochemistry.
Learning Objectives:
- to give an understanding of the nature and origin of metalliferous ore deposits and to provide an introduction to exploration geochemistry as a discovery technique.
Assessment by a three-hour combined practical/ theory examination (80%); practical exercises and assignments (20%).
