26 lectures. Second semester.

Available to students enrolled in any Faculty other than Health, Life and Molecular Sciences and Science and Engineering.

An introduction to Earth Science in the context of environmental issues that involve Earth processes and properties, suitable for students in the Faculties of Arts, Education and Social Sciences; and Law, Business and the Creative Arts with no formal Science background. The content embraces many of the critical environmental issues of our times including the utilisation of soil, water, mineral and energy resources, natural hazards and disasters, pollution and climate and sea-level change.

Assessment by a three–hour examination (60%); performance in written assignments (40%).
