An introduction to the formation of ore deposits and economic minerals. Formation of and the use and care of renewable and non-renewable energy resources. The concept of the geological time scale and how it is calibrated, including an introduction to palaeontology and the development of life as shown by fossil assemblages. Landform development and processes. An introduction to geological mapping. The geological evolution of the Australian continent.
Assessment by practical and field exercises (50%); assignments and examination (50%).
