Aquaculture: Special Topic

Prerequisites: 12 units of level 3 subjects (AQ subjects and/or MI3031) or consult HOS
Inadmissable Subject Combination: AQ4002

4 weeks full time. December vacation.

Staff: Dr P Southgate.

Program developed with staff of placement institution to provide the best experience for the student.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to give students first hand experience of a commercial/institutional aquaculture operation;
  2. to develop the skills required for working as part of a small production team;
  3. to develop an appreciation of the factors required for successful aquaculture production;
  4. to develop the practical skills required for aquaculture production;
  5. to produce students better equipped for employment in the aquaculture industry.

Assessment by student report on their placement experience (60%); questionnaire completed by host regarding student performance (20%); a student interview (20%).
