Subject Description

    This subject examines the professional values and ethics that underpin social work and social welfare practice to enhance critically reflective, ethical decision making in complex professional contexts

Learning Outcomes

  • explain and critically analyse ethical theory and alternative philosophical perspectives on the nature of ethics
  • critically reflect on and evaluate actions and outcomes of ethical decision-making
  • propose professional solutions to complex value conflicts and ethical dilemmas through the critical analysis and application of ethical decision making frameworks and principles

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Case study analysis - (50%) - Individual
  • Written > Critical appraisal/review - (50%) - Individual
