Subject Description

    This subject introduces students to a management career in the tourism and hospitality industry, which includes hotels, food and beverage, meetings and conventions, recreation and leisure, cruise industry, gaming industry, transportation, club and event management. The goal of the subject is for the student to be able to evaluate the sectors of the hospitality, tourism and events industry to guide them in building a career in the industry.

Learning Outcomes

  • research and evaluate the growth, development and theories underpinning hospitality, tourism and events
  • research and evaluate the existing and future career opportunities across tourism and hospitality industry sectors
  • analyse and discuss the operational skills necessary across a variety of tourism, hospitality and event management job roles

  • Written > Reflection/reflective task 1 - (25%) - Individual
  • Written > Research report - (25%) - Individual
  • Performance/Practice/Product > Portfolio - (50%) - Individual
