Subject Description

This subject addresses the fundamental principles of clinical exercise physiology professional practice. The roles and responsibilities of the exercise physiologist in an inter-professional environment; contemporary challenges of the healthcare sector; and the pathophysiological basis of chronic disease will be addressed. The subject provides a basis for the knowledge, skills and attributes required as an exercise physiologist involving an understanding of reflective practice, clinical note taking, communication (inter-professional, peer to peer and practitioner to client), as well as ethics, scope of practice and legal frameworks.
