Subject Description

    This subject is one of two elective capstones offered through the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program for Psychology. It is designed to integrate knowledge and skills developed throughout the degree, requiring to students to apply their learning to issues faced by professionals in relevant workplaces. Students are required to develop a solution to a real-life problem sourced from industry. Identification of suitable projects occurs through collaborative discussions between the student, subject lecturer, and industry partner organisations. Students will gain an invaluable first taste of what it is like to work on professional projects with connections to psychology, honing their own career plans and aspirations while further developing their skills.

Learning Outcomes

  • apply psychological concepts, theories and methods to solve problems in professional workplace settings
  • plan a workplace intervention that accommodates diverse stakeholder needs
  • justify workplace interventions with reference to empirical data and other sources of evidence
  • critically reflect on professional skill and knowledge development with respect to career goals and community impact

Subject Assessment

  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (25%) - Group
  • Participation > Class participation - (10%) - Individual
  • Written > Proposal - (40%) - Group
  • Written > Reflection/reflective task 1 - (25%) - Individual

Special Assessment Requirements

In order to pass the subject, students must achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties
