Subject Description

    Experimental research is invaluable to many areas of psychology, for example, it informs the practice of clinical psychologists when determining which treatment approaches to use with clients. This subject focuses on the design, implementation, and analysis of experimental research within psychology. The subject demonstrates how to design and implement experiments to maximise validity. It also covers many of the statistical analysis techniques used to analyse experimental data. There is an emphasis on conducting statistical analyses using software, interpreting results, and effectively communicating results.

  • Demonstrate skills in appropriately selecting and conducting data analyses, within the context of experimental research
  • Interpret data and communicate findings appropriately to the task and audience, within the context of experimental research

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties.

Assumed Knowledge:  To undertake this subject, students must have successfully completed 12 credit points (four subjects) of level 1 study at tertiary level
