Subject Description

This subject continues to develop areas of professional pharmacy practice, pharmaceutics and counselling. In the pharmacy practice area, students will expand on their previous knowledge in management to include financial management relating to pharmacy practice. Pharmacy law and ethics will consider issues in contemporary practice, with a focus on workplace law, negligence, privacy, digital health and ethical dilemmas. Students will continue to develop skills in clinical dispensing and counselling and extemporaneous dispensing. In the area of pharmaceutics, students will explore novel drug delivery and biosimilar medications. Additionally, students will learn the theory and principles of immunisation and be trained in the delivery of vaccinations in the pharmacy setting. Students will continue development of their independent research skills development and project. They will collect, collate and analyse research data in order to derive robust research findings. Students will then critically examine their research findings in relation to existing knowledge on their research topic and analyse the relevance of these findings to pharmacy practice.
