PC2550 - Evidence in Pharmacy Practice Part 2 of 2

Subject Description

TThis subject chain focuses on the application of evidence in pharmacy practice. It covers the access to and critical evaluation of published literature and the application of this evidence in the pharmacy practice environment. The subject introduces students to the design and conduct of research utilising different methodologies in pharmacy practice settings including the handling and analysis of data and the reporting of results. Aspects such as the safe and ethical conduct of research, generation and testing of hypotheses and choice of methodology - including quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods are covered.

Learning Outcomes

• Describe ethical and safety considerations in pharmacy practice improvement and practice-based research
• Describe the types of methodologies used in research to promote pharmacy practice improvement
• Apply knowledge and skills to critically evaluate evidence and published literature
• Evaluate evidence and present the findings to an audience

Subject Assessment

As this subject is part of a subject chain, a final standard grade (e.g. P, C) will only be recorded for each subject after successful completion of all parts of the subject chain.

• Oral > Presentation 1 - (20%) - Individual
• Written > Examination (College administered) - (25%) - Individual
• Written > Literature review - (45%) - Individual
• Written > Proposal - (10%) - Individual
