Subject Description

    Health professionals require advanced skills to critique literature and synthesise best available evidence to inform practice. In this subject, students will navigate steps to synthesise high-quality evidence to address questions arising from clinical scenarios. Students will locate and critically appraise primary research, synthesise information and discuss findings with consideration of the strength of evidence.

Learning Outcomes

  • Differentiate between research paradigms and methodologies to address healthcare questions and advance practice
  • Critically appraise primary research reports
  • Synthesise and discuss appraised literature to inform practice and research recommendations
  • Formulate and execute a structured and comprehensive search for literature

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (15%) - Individual
  • Written > Critical appraisal/review - (40%) - Individual
  • Written > Proposal - (45%) - Individual
